CHRISTIAN KRISCHKOWSKY QUARTET (DE)
Musik mit Tiefgang und Humor, gefühlvoll, wild, frisch, lebendig und überraschend – Das Quartet des Ulmer Schlagzeugers Christian Krischkowsky und seinen Berliner Teamkollegen Peter Ehwald (sax), Marc Schmolling(p), Roland Fidezius(b) bringt ein breites Gefühls- und Hörspektrum zum Ausdruck.
Nach „DIGITAL IMMIGRANT“ (nominiert für den Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik 4/16) ist das Quartet musikalisch noch näher zusammengerückt und veröffentlicht nun mit „THE END OF MELANCHOLISM“ (Doublemoon/Challenge international) ihr zweites Album.
In den expressionistisch anmutenden Kompositionen und Arrangements des Schlagzeugers vereinen sich spielerisch Jazztradition und Moderne. Kantig swingende Einflüsse von Thelonious Monk sind ebenso zu hören wie zeitgenössische, teils Hip Hop inspirierte Rhythmusgebilde oder eigenwillig interpretierte Popklassiker z.B. der Beatles. Alles mit dem ureigenen Ausdruck dieses Quartetts.

DIE MUSIKER
Das Magazin JAZZPODIUM schrieb einst über Christian Krischkowsky: „Was soll man erwarten von einem, der seine musikalischen Wurzeln im Rock und Pop ansiedelt, erst als zwanzigjähriger dem Jazz die Türen öffnet und zudem noch autodidaktisch sein Kompositionstalent auf diesem neuen Gebiet auslebt? Etwas Neues! Wenn er wie in Christian Krischkowskys Fall, mit solchem Talent, von solch klanglicher Fülle, und einer derartigen Erfindungsgabe beschenkt ist.“ Christian studierte Schlagzeug am „Drummers Focus“ in München und ist Gründer der Schlagzeugschule DRUMTALK in Ulm. Das Jazzdebutalbum „TS BREMEN“ seines Quintets erschien in der vielversprechenden Reihe JAZZTHING NEXT GENERATION und war 2005 der Beginn für zahlreiche Konzertreisen, weitere Projekte und Veröffentlichungen.

PETER EHWALD studierte Saxofon in Weimar, Köln, der Royal Academie of Music in London und am City College in New York. Er arbeitet als Dozent an der Hochschule in Weimar und ist Teil verschiedener viel gelobter Formationen. Er spielt als Bandleader und Sideman mit zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Musikern und erhielt einige Preise u.a. Best Jazz Performers Award Granada.

MARC SCHMOLLING studierte Klavier am Richard Strauß-Konservatorium in München und an der Universität Stanford in Kalifornien. Er war Preisträger des Jazz Award Berlin. Sein Trio Album mit Jonas Westergaard (b) und Christian Lillinger (dr) „Live in Berlin/Vol. 1“ (Wizmar Records) wurde zum Vierteljahrespreis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik nominiert. Er ist Mitbegründer des JAZZKOLLEKTIV BERLIN.

ROLAND FIDEZIUS studierte Bass an der Berliner Universität der Künste und erhielt ein Stipendium der Stadt Berlin für einen Studienaufenthalt in New York. Mit verschiedenen Projekten trat er auf vielen internationalen Festivals auf. Weltweite Konzertreisen führten ihn durch Europa, USA, Kanada, Afrika. u.a. gefördert durch das Goethe Institut.

CHRISTIAN KRISCHKOWSKY QUARTET (ENG)
Music with depth and humour, soulful, wild, fresh, lively and surprising – the quartet of Ulm drummer Christian Krischkowsky and his Berlin teammates Peter Ehwald (sax), Marc Schmolling(p), Roland Fidezius(b) expresses a broad spectrum of feelings. After „DIGITAL IMMIGRANT“ (nominated for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik 4/16), the quartet has moved even closer together musically and is now releasing their second album „THE END OF MELANCHOLISM“ (Doublemoon/Challenge international). The drummer’s expressionist compositions and arrangements playfully combine jazz tradition and modernity. Angular swinging influences of Thelonious Monk can be heard as well as contemporary, partly hip hop inspired rhythm structures or idiosyncratically interpreted pop classics e.B. of the Beatles. All with the very own expression of this quartet.

THE MUSICIANS
The magazine JAZZPODIUM once wrote about CHRISTIAN KRISCHKOWSKY: „What can one expect from someone who has his musical roots in rock and pop, only opens the doors to jazz at the age of twenty and also self-taught lives out his compositional talent on this new field? Something new! When, as in Christian Krischkowsky’s case, he is gifted with such talent, with such sonic richness, and such inventiveness.“ Christian studied drums at the „Drummers Focus“ in Munich and is the founder of the drum school DRUMTALK in Ulm. The jazz debut album „TS BREMEN“ of his quintet was released 2005 in the promising series JAZZTHING NEXT GENERATION and was the beginning of numerous concert tours, further projects and releases.

PETER EHWALD studied saxophone in Weimar, Cologne, the Royal Academie of Music in London and at City College in New York. He works as a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Weimar and is part of various much-praised formations. He plays as a bandleader and sideman with numerous national and international musicians and has received several awards including Best Jazz Performers Award Granada.

MARC SCHMOLLING studied piano at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich and at Stanford University in California. He was a laureate of the Jazz Award Berlin. His trio album with Jonas Westergaard (b) and Christian Lillinger (dr) „Live in Berlin/Vol. 1“ (Wizmar Records) was nominated for the Quarterly Prize of the German Record Critics. He is co-founder of the JAZZKOLLEKTIV BERLIN.

ROLAND FIDEZIUS studied bass at the Berlin University of the Arts and received a scholarship from the city of Berlin for a study stay in New York. With various projects he has performed at many international festivals. Worldwide concert tours have taken him through Europe, USA, Canada, Africa. funded by the Goethe Institut, among others.
